I’m a firm believer in karma, and that what you put out into the universe comes back to you tenfold. I hail the universe as my go to guide for the natural order of things. It’s the big picture, we’re the smaller picture within; one can learn and discern from the microcosm, as it were, as well as from the macrocosm. How we interact with our universe, and our planet, fascinates me. But what about how we interact with planets, plural?
Currently, the phenomenon of ‘retrograde’ is occurring in our solar system. What does that mean? Retrograde means ‘going backward.’ The planets are going in a retrograde motion—or motion that makes them appear to be going backwards.
According to a recent article at nj.com, Why the Upcoming Retrograde Could Ruin Your Weekend, beginning April 28, for the first time in 10 years, five planets in our solar system will be in retrograde.
What’s this mean for me, and my universe?
In the nj.com article, Jean Durkin, psychic medium and spiritual educator was quoted as saying: “When it does that, it messes with the electrical current that keeps everything going. That’s why people have problems with electronic devices during retrograde.”
Now, it could be coincidence, but I’ve had more trouble with my Smartphone in the last week than I can ever remember having…
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, Mercury will be retrograde during four periods in 2016: January 5 to 25, April 28 to May 22, August 30 to September 22, and December 19 to 31.
The planet Mercury is known to rule such things as communication, travel, contracts, and automobiles. When Mercury is in retrograde, that means we may need to plan for delays, even some irritability, maybe even miscommunications. Maybe even add scattered to that list. 😉 According to the Farmer’s Almanac article at almanac.com, we should try to remain flexible, and avoid making big decisions. Instead, this time can be used constructively to reflect on one’s life.
So, perhaps we can view ‘retrograde’ as a unique gift from the universe, versus a bad omen. After all, the greatest gift the universe gives us is balance in all things–in my eyes. Having this balance in ourselves, and our lives, is equally important—chronic busy-ness seems to be a ‘disease’ in today’s world. There’s a time for relaxation and reflection as well, that’s necessary for good balance. After all, we are a reflection of the universe.
Please share – what have you experienced during the retrograde? Has it been positive or negative for you?
